Planning Consultant – Town Planning Role in Edinburgh

About the role

Our client, a leading planning and strategic communications consultancy, is seeking a Planning Consultant to join their Edinburgh office. You will work on a varied portfolio of projects across Scotland and the wider UK, supporting senior planners and contributing to high‑profile developments in sectors such as energy, infrastructure, residential and healthcare.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in preparing and submitting planning applications and supporting documentation.
• Support project delivery across multiple development sectors.
• Conduct planning research, site appraisals, and policy reviews.
• Liaise with clients, consultants, and local authorities.
• Contribute to business development and help grow the Scottish presence.
• Manage project workloads and ensure successful outcomes.

Required profile

• Degree or postgraduate qualification in Town Planning or related discipline.
• Minimum 2 years post‑graduation professional planning experience.
• MRTPI qualified or working towards chartership.
• Strong knowledge of the Scottish planning system.
• Experience in a planning consultancy, local authority or development environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
