Plant Operator – Heavy Machinery (Scotland & North England)

About the role

We are seeking a full‑time Plant Operator to join our Dumfries base, supporting projects across Scotland and northern England. You will operate a range of heavy plant and equipment, including loaders, excavators and crushers, to keep our production lines running safely and efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out pre‑start checks and routine inspections on all plant and machinery.
• Monitor equipment performance, report faults and coordinate maintenance with supervisors.
• Follow site safety, environmental and quality procedures at all times.
• Maintain accurate operational and production records.
• Work with the team to ensure smooth material flow, minimise downtime and meet production targets.

Required profile

• Proven experience operating heavy plant (loaders, excavators, crushers) in industrial, mining or construction settings.
• Strong awareness of health, safety and environmental regulations with a clean safety record.
• Ability to perform basic equipment inspections and routine maintenance.
• Effective teamwork and communication skills, able to work within shift patterns.
• Basic numeracy for record‑keeping and production tracking.
• Relevant plant operation licences or certifications (e.g., CPCS, NPORS) are highly beneficial.
• Willingness to work outdoors in a physically demanding environment.
