Plant Operator – Waste Management

About the role

We are seeking a Plant Operator to join Veolia’s waste‑management team in Northampton. You will be responsible for safely handling and moving waste, ensuring compliance with environmental and safety standards, and supporting the team in delivering reliable service to our customers.

Key responsibilities

• Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
• Move, load and unload waste safely.
• Report any contamination, non‑compliant waste, or battery issues.
• Log all service, safety and environmental concerns.
• Work collaboratively with the team and maintain communication via two‑way radio.
• Inspect vehicles before use and report any defects.
• Stop work immediately if unsafe conditions are identified and inform the line manager.
• Stay alert for fire hazards and report smoke, smouldering or flames.

Required profile

• Experience working in an operational environment.
• Strong team‑working attitude.
• Valid 360° and grab licence.
• Desirable: previous experience in waste‑management operations.
