Plastic Injection Mold Setter

About the role

Jokey, a manufacturer of injection-moulded plastic packaging active since over 50 years, is looking for an experienced Plastic Injection Mold Setter for its new manufacturing site in Corby. The role starts with 20 injection molding machines ranging from 150 to 450 tons in a high-volume, fast-paced environment. On-the-job training is provided.

Key responsibilities

• Set up and start up molding machines and ensure they run within regulation parameters to meet quality standards and production goals
• Check product with calipers, optical tools and other testing methods
• Monitor and troubleshoot processing problems, carry out preventative maintenance and document process changes
• Reduce material scrap and give feedback on mold design to Tool and Die Makers so molds run at optimal cycle time and quality
• Identify and resolve equipment, material or product issues and prevent repeat quality problems
• Work with Mechanical Engineers and Electricians to keep plant and equipment running with minimal downtime
• Comply with risk assessments and Environment, Health & Safety procedures

Required profile

• Three to five years of plastic injection mold processing experience, from mold setting through to successful processing
• Willingness to work on a rotational shift system
• Ability to work both in a team and independently, with strong decision-making and problem-solving skills

Required skills

• Knowledge of molding machines, overhead cranes, injection tools and parts
• Hands-on experience with high-volume injection molding
• Troubleshooting ability

Shifts are Monday to Friday, alternating weeks: 6am-2pm and 2pm-10pm. The workplace is climate controlled, with occasional temperature variation, non-toxic fumes and constant machine noise.
