Practice Accountant

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Practice Accountant to join our UK‑based accountancy practice. You will work directly with clients, preparing statutory accounts, managing tax filings and supporting year‑end reporting while ensuring compliance with UK accounting standards.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare statutory accounts in line with HMRC and Companies House requirements.
• Produce year‑end accounts and financial statements.
• Prepare and submit VAT returns.
• Handle corporation tax and self‑assessment tax returns.
• Manage client bookkeeping using Xero, QuickBooks or Sage.
• Liaise with clients to gather financial information and provide advice.
• Support audits where applicable.
• Advise clients on tax efficiency and financial planning.
• Ensure compliance with UK accounting standards such as FRS 102 and FRS 105.

Required profile

• Experience working in a UK accountancy practice (typically 2–5+ years).
• Strong knowledge of UK tax rules and financial reporting standards.
• Excellent communication skills for client interaction.
• High attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Xero.
• Proficiency with QuickBooks.
• Proficiency with Sage.
