Primary HLTA (Higher Level Teaching Assistant) – Part‑time

About the role

This part‑time, temporary position supports teaching and learning across a primary school in Ulverston. Working under the supervision of a qualified teacher, you will deliver targeted phonics, early writing and maths activities to individuals, small groups or whole classes.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver specified work for pupils, adapting activities as needed.
• Assess, record and report on pupil progress against learning objectives.
• Provide specialist support for pupils with learning, behavioural, communication, social, sensory or physical difficulties, or for those whose first language is not English.
• Collaborate with staff, parents and external agencies, contributing to meetings, reviews, IEPs and reports.
• Supervise and guide other staff in specialist areas when required.
• Follow all Trust and school policies, including child protection, health & safety and data protection.

Required skills

• Knowledge of primary‑level phonics, early writing and maths curricula.

• Strong record‑keeping and reporting abilities.
