Primary HLTA (Higher Level Teaching Assistant) – Part‑time

About the role
This part‑time, temporary position supports teaching and learning across a primary school in Ulverston. Working under the supervision of a qualified teacher, you will deliver targeted phonics, early writing and maths activities to individuals, small groups or whole classes.
Key responsibilities
- Plan, prepare and deliver specified work for pupils, adapting activities as needed.
- Assess, record and report on pupil progress against learning objectives.
- Provide specialist support for pupils with learning, behavioural, communication, social, sensory or physical difficulties, or for those whose first language is not English.
- Collaborate with staff, parents and external agencies, contributing to meetings, reviews, IEPs and reports.
- Supervise and guide other staff in specialist areas when required.
- Follow all Trust and school policies, including child protection, health & safety and data protection.
Required profile
- Commitment to the Trust’s Christian values of honesty, empathy and social responsibility.
- Ability to work transparently, promote independence and encourage cooperative learning.
- Willingness to use discretion in handling unanticipated issues and support pupil behaviour plans.
Required skills
- Knowledge of primary‑level phonics, early writing and maths curricula.
- Experience delivering specialist support to diverse learner needs.
- Strong record‑keeping and reporting abilities.
