Principal Acoustic Consultant

About the role

Penguin Recruitment is seeking a Principal Acoustic Consultant to join a leading independent consultancy in Manchester. You will work on high‑profile projects across sectors such as urban regeneration, high‑rise buildings, research facilities, performance venues and luxury hotels.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage delivery of complex acoustic consultancy projects.
• Provide expert advice on architectural acoustics, noise and vibration to clients and stakeholders.
• Collaborate with architects, developers and multidisciplinary teams to ensure acoustic solutions meet project requirements.
• Oversee and mentor junior consultants.
• Conduct site visits, acoustic measurements and technical assessments.
• Prepare detailed technical reports and deliver client presentations.
• Maintain and develop strong client relationships to support business growth.

Required profile

• Minimum 7 years of professional experience in architectural acoustics.
• Proven track record of delivering complex projects on time and to a high standard.
• Excellent communication and client‑facing abilities.
• Proactive, problem‑solving attitude.
• Degree in Acoustics, Engineering or related field (preferred but not essential).
• Membership of relevant professional bodies such as the IOA is advantageous.
