Principal Engineer - Corporate Technology

About the role

As a Principal Engineer in Corporate Technology, you will lead senior engineering efforts across People, Finance and Procurement platforms, shaping the engineering vision and ensuring secure, resilient, and scalable solutions for the Financial Times.

Key responsibilities

• Define the engineering vision for People, Finance and Procurement platforms and translate FT strategy into concrete road‑maps.
• Provide senior technical direction across enterprise platforms, integrations and data flows.
• Establish technical standards, patterns and guardrails together with Architecture and Engineering Leads.
• Identify technical debt, simplify the estate and improve interoperability.
• Mentor Engineering Leads and senior engineers, ensuring clear ownership and accountability.

Required profile

• Extensive senior engineering leadership experience in a complex technology organisation.
• Proven track record of leading large‑scale transformation, modernisation or implementation programmes.
• Experience working with third‑party vendors while maintaining strong internal ownership of critical platforms.
