Principal UI Engineer – 6‑Month Fixed‑Term (Remote or Onsite)

About the role

Space Rangers is partnering with a AAA game studio to hire a Principal UI Engineer on a six‑month fixed‑term contract. You will be the technical authority for user‑interface engineering, shaping the architecture and standards that power data‑driven, high‑performance game UIs.

Key responsibilities

• Define and drive the long‑term technical vision for UI engineering across multiple projects.
• Establish frameworks, patterns, and best practices that ensure reusable and future‑proof interfaces.
• Evaluate emerging tools and make architectural decisions to keep UI systems robust and performant.
• Prototype solutions, set quality standards, and mentor engineers at all levels.
• Represent UI engineering at studio level and liaise with external partners, platform holders, and engine vendors.

Required profile

• Extensive UI engineering experience with multiple shipped commercial game titles.
• Proven track record of defining UI architecture and technical strategy at scale.
• Deep expertise in C++ and hands‑on UI implementation.
• Strong engineering judgement and ability to make decisions with incomplete information.
• Mentoring mindset, excellent communication, and the ability to work autonomously.
