Private Client Tax Manager – Accountancy Firm

About the role

The Private Client Tax Manager will oversee a portfolio of high‑net‑worth individuals and families, including private‑equity executives. You will deliver tax services on time and within budget while supporting the growth of the practice.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of private‑client tax engagements, ensuring compliance with agreed timelines and budgets.
• Review and mentor the work of junior team members.
• Liaise with other service lines such as Accounts and Corporate Tax to provide integrated solutions.
• Monitor work‑in‑progress, draft fee notes and maintain strong client relationships.
• Identify new business opportunities and support senior staff in expanding the client base.
• Develop junior colleagues through feedback, technical guidance and personal development support.

Required profile

• Significant experience in a professional services firm handling private‑client tax matters.
• Deep knowledge of complex capital gains tax and inheritance tax issues.
• Proven ability to communicate technical tax concepts clearly to clients.
• Experience delivering tax planning and advisory projects and managing complex compliance work.
• People‑management and organisational experience.
• Qualified Chartered Accountant (ACA) and/or Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA).
