Process Operator – 12‑month contract in Edinburgh

About the role

We are seeking a Process Operator to join our production team in Edinburgh on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract. You will work a 4‑on‑4‑off shift pattern (2 days, 2 nights) with an 18‑day break every 10 weeks, performing chemical batch reactions in a cGMP‑controlled environment.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out chemical reactions according to batch sheets and process instructions.
• Monitor reaction criteria and alert supervisors to any irregularities.
• Record process changes and maintain accurate process documentation.
• Operate plant equipment and material‑handling machinery in compliance with cGMP, SOPs and health‑and‑safety standards.
• Weigh, dispense, and record quantities of bulk chemicals and liquids.
• Perform cleaning of vessels, drums, tanks and other containers.
• Handle hazardous materials safely and wear appropriate protective clothing.
• Conduct in‑process sampling, testing and waste handling.
• Support introduction of new products and process development.
• Participate in continuous‑improvement and lean manufacturing activities.

Required profile

• Ability to work 4‑on‑4‑off shift patterns, including nights.
• Experience with chemical batch processing in a regulated environment.
• Understanding of cGMP and Controlled Drug regulations.
• Capability to operate mechanical and electro‑mechanical handling equipment safely.
• Attention to detail for accurate weighing, dispensing and record‑keeping.
