Procurement Manager – Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Management

About the role

The client operates a nationwide network of depots and specialist divisions serving the construction, infrastructure, utilities, energy and industrial sectors. They are seeking an experienced Procurement Manager to shape sourcing strategy, manage supplier relationships and drive commercial performance across the business.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a multi‑supplier sourcing and category strategy for plant and equipment, balancing dual/multi‑sourcing with consolidated OEM partnerships.
• Own negotiations and agreements with key suppliers to secure consistent pricing, service levels and commercial terms.
• Evaluate and select suppliers using whole‑life/total cost of ownership analysis, considering purchase price, parts, servicing, fuel efficiency, residual value and warranty.
• Lead a procurement team, delivering cost‑saving initiatives and continuous improvement of purchasing processes.
• Interpret spend data to identify opportunities for cost reduction and performance enhancement.
• Support procurement transformation programmes and implement category‑management and supplier‑relationship frameworks.

Required profile

• Significant experience as a Procurement Manager, including team leadership.
• Strong expertise in category management, sourcing and supplier negotiation.
• Proven track record of delivering cost savings and commercial contract improvements.
• Excellent analytical capabilities and stakeholder management skills.
• MCIPS qualification or progress towards it.
• Experience in plant hire, equipment rental, construction, infrastructure or other asset‑intensive industries.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ERP and P2P procurement technology systems.
