Production Manager – Food Manufacturing (Preston)

About the role

Gafoor, a fast‑growing family‑owned food manufacturer in Preston, is seeking an experienced Production Manager to lead a multicultural team on a 24/5 operation. You will be responsible for one of two shifts (early 5‑14 or late 13‑22) and ensure that production meets schedule, quality and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the day‑to‑day running of the production line, meeting customer orders on time and to specification.
• Lead, train and develop machine minders and line leaders, handling absence, holidays and performance issues.
• Capture, analyse and present KPI and OEE data to drive productivity and GMP compliance.
• Maintain a safe working environment in line with Health, Safety and Hygiene regulations.
• Support the introduction of new products and changes to specifications.

Required profile

• Minimum three years’ experience managing people in a UK food manufacturing setting, preferably poultry or meat processing.
• Strong commercial outlook with excellent numerical capability.
• Calm, resilient approach to a fast‑paced, changeable environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Office packages.
• Broad knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and BRC standards.
• Experience measuring and improving Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
