About the role
We are seeking an experienced Production Planner to join a specialist engineering manufacturing business in Rugby. The role involves developing and maintaining production schedules, coordinating across departments, and ensuring projects are delivered on time and to the highest standards.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and maintain production schedules to meet customer demand and manufacturing targets.
- Coordinate with production, engineering, purchasing, and logistics teams to ensure smooth workflow.
- Monitor material availability and stock levels, working with procurement.
- Plan and prioritize manufacturing activities to maximise efficiency and minimise delays.
- Communicate production progress, delivery timescales, and potential issues to internal departments.
- Prepare production reports, analyse performance data and identify improvement opportunities.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across the manufacturing process.
- Liaise with engineering and production teams regarding equipment maintenance and machine servicing.
- Maintain accurate production records using internal planning systems.
Required profile
- Proven experience as a Production Planner, Production Scheduler or Manufacturing Planner in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Strong organisational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills for working with production, engineering and purchasing teams.
- Strong analytical skills to review data, identify trends and implement improvements.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes and lean principles (beneficial).
Required skills
- Experience with ERP systems.
- Experience with MRP systems.
- Use of production planning software.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles.
What we offer
- Full‑time hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00‑16:30.
- 20 days holiday plus 8 bank holidays.
- Competitive salary range £34,000‑£38,000 per year.
