Programme Director – Operational Transformation

About the role

We are partnering with a leading UK infrastructure organisation to appoint a Programme Director who will steer a high‑profile operational transformation programme. The role is hybrid, based in London with occasional site visits across the UK, and is critical to modernising core operational capabilities while maintaining uninterrupted service delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of a large‑scale, multi‑workstream transformation programme covering technology, facilities, operations and business change.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive programme plans, governance structures and regular reporting mechanisms.
• Identify, assess and mitigate programme risks, dependencies and critical milestones.
• Engage and influence senior stakeholders across operational and executive teams.
• Ensure operational readiness and a smooth transition to new ways of working.
• Coordinate third‑party suppliers and delivery partners to meet programme objectives.
• Oversee financial management, governance and executive reporting for the programme.

Required profile

• Proven experience delivering large, complex transformation programmes within critical infrastructure environments such as utilities, energy, transport, telecommunications or aviation.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple workstreams and lead cross‑functional teams with minimal operational disruption.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, particularly with senior and executive audiences.
• Experience in operational readiness, command‑and‑control environments, or mission‑critical service delivery.
