Project Manager – Capital Projects (NHS)

About the role

The NHS organisation in Surrey is looking for an experienced Project Manager to lead capital projects across a large healthcare estate. You will oversee schemes from feasibility through to handover, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time and within budget.

Key responsibilities

• Manage capital projects through feasibility, design, procurement, construction and handover stages.
• Develop project briefs and agree requirements with end users.
• Coordinate external consultants, contractors and design teams.
• Prepare specifications and tender documentation where required.
• Monitor project budgets, programmes and risks.
• Ensure compliance with quality, health & safety standards.
• Provide regular progress updates to senior stakeholders.
• Support the wider delivery of the capital programme across the estate.

Required profile

• Qualification in Architecture, Surveying, Engineering or a construction‑related discipline.
• Experience within NHS or healthcare estates.
• Significant experience managing complex capital or construction projects.
• Proven ability to prepare specifications and tender documentation.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Excellent project and budget management capabilities.
• Proactive, solutions‑focused approach with strong organisational skills.
