Project Manager – Public Sector (Gloucester)

About the role

Bovis is seeking a Project Manager to lead a major new public‑sector project in Gloucester as part of the Defence Estate Optimisation Programme (DEOP). The role combines technical, commercial and operational responsibilities while ensuring compliance with Bovis health, safety and environmental policies.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detailed project strategies, plans and schedules from initiation to completion.
• Coordinate design, construction, commercial and client teams to deliver work packages on time and within budget.
• Manage project risks, mitigate design risk and capture value‑adding opportunities.
• Ensure all staff, contractors and work practices meet Bovis safety requirements.
• Oversee cost control, quality assurance and site management activities.

Required profile

• Chartered membership or equivalent (e.g., CIOB chartership) and relevant construction qualifications.
• Ability to obtain the necessary security clearance for the role.
• Proven experience in delivering construction projects in the public sector.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for interacting with clients, supply chain and stakeholders.

Required skills

• Preparation of short, medium and long‑term programmes and coordinated delivery strategies.
• Package risk management and opportunity identification.
• Knowledge of current construction laws, regulations, standards and procedures.
