Protective Equipment Group (PEG) Technician – Full‑time Temporary

About the role

The Protective Equipment Group (PEG) Technician will join the Operations Support Group of a leading public‑sector emergency services organisation in Greater London. The role focuses on charging, maintaining and transporting respiratory protective equipment and associated operational assets, with full training provided. The position is based on‑site in Croydon and may require travel to satellite locations across the city.

Key responsibilities

• Charge compressed‑air cylinders and maintain related equipment.
• Support upkeep of the Operations Support Group’s equipment portfolio.
• Transport and handle equipment between operational sites, adhering to manual‑handling guidelines.
• Maintain accurate manual and electronic records of equipment and stores.
• Enter, retrieve and update information using computerised systems.
• Communicate effectively with colleagues and external stakeholders via email.
• Comply with health‑and‑safety policies, legislation and equality commitments.

Required profile

• Full clean UK driving licence and confidence driving medium‑sized vans.
• Strong attention to detail and robust record‑keeping abilities.
• Physically capable of lifting and moving equipment safely.
• Ability to follow procedures and work to high safety standards.

What we offer

• Competitive hourly rates: £17.56 PAYE or £22.67 Umbrella.
• Full‑time 35‑hour week, Monday‑Friday 07:00‑15:00.
• Initial three‑month fixed‑term contract with the possibility of extension.
