Protective Equipment Group (PEG) Technician

About the role

The Protective Equipment Group (PEG) Technician will join the Operations Support Group of a leading public‑sector emergency services organisation in Greater London. Working on‑site in Croydon, you will be responsible for the charging, maintenance and safe handling of respiratory protective equipment and related assets, supporting frontline emergency response.

Key responsibilities

• Charge compressed‑air cylinders and maintain associated respiratory protective equipment.
• Support the upkeep of operational support equipment across multiple sites, including Barking and Park Royal.
• Transport, move and handle equipment in accordance with health‑and‑safety and manual‑handling guidelines.
• Maintain accurate manual and electronic records of equipment, stores and usage.
• Use computerised systems to enter, retrieve and update information, and communicate with colleagues and stakeholders via email.
• Comply with all relevant legislation, safety standards and organisational equality, diversity and inclusion policies.

Required profile

• Full clean UK driving licence and confidence driving medium‑sized vans.
• Physically capable of lifting and carrying equipment safely.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow documented procedures.
• Willingness to travel to satellite sites across Greater London as required.

What we offer

• Competitive PAYE rate of £17.56 per hour or £22.67 per hour on an umbrella contract.
• Full training provided for the role.
• Temporary three‑month assignment with the possibility of extension.
• Full‑time schedule: Monday‑Friday, 7:00 am‑3:00 pm, 35 hours per week.
