About the role
The Psychological Health Practitioner (PHP) role is part of a pioneering service in Wales, delivering timely psychological assessment and support to the Gwent community. Working within the Aneurin Bevan University Health Board, you will join a multidisciplinary team focused on innovative, patient‑centred care.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments for patients across Blaenau Gwent, Newport and Torfaen.
- Develop and deliver evidence‑based interventions tailored to individual needs.
- Collaborate with clinicians, nurses and allied health professionals to integrate mental health care into broader treatment plans.
- Contribute to the development and evaluation of the new PHP service model.
- Maintain accurate clinical records in line with NHS standards.
Required profile
- Qualified mental health practitioner with appropriate registration.
- Demonstrated experience in psychological assessment and intervention.
- Commitment to inclusive, equitable care for diverse populations, including neurodiverse and disabled individuals.
- Willingness to work within the NHS framework and adhere to its policies.
Required skills
- Clinical assessment and formulation skills.
- Delivery of therapeutic interventions.
- Knowledge of NHS clinical documentation and governance processes.
