Qualified Social Worker – Team Manager, Children & Young People Disability

About the role

This contract position offers an experienced Qualified Social Worker the chance to lead the Children and Young People Disability Team at Reading Borough Council. You will be responsible for ensuring high‑quality support for children and young people with disabilities, working within a multi‑agency environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Children and Young People Disability Team within Reading Borough Council.
• Assess and plan support for children and young people with disabilities, ensuring their needs are met.
• Coordinate multi‑agency working, safeguarding and case reviews.
• Develop and monitor service delivery against statutory standards.
• Provide professional supervision and mentorship to social work staff.

Required profile

• Qualified Social Worker with experience in children and young people services.
• Demonstrated experience of team or service management.
• Strong knowledge of disability legislation and safeguarding frameworks.
• Ability to work collaboratively with local authority partners and external agencies.

Required skills

• Case management and assessment.
• Team leadership and supervision.
• Multi‑agency coordination.
• Knowledge of statutory guidance for children and young people with disabilities.
