Quality Assurance Engineer

About the role

As a Quality Assurance Engineer at Babcock’s Devonport Royal Dockyard, you will ensure that engineering, infrastructure and maintenance activities meet the highest standards of quality, compliance and safety. You will support upgrades, maintenance and modifications to critical facilities that enable submarine and warship operations.

Key responsibilities

• Provide quality assurance guidance to project stakeholders across planning, delivery, installation and commissioning.
• Develop and review Quality Management Plans and Inspection and Test Plans.
• Monitor quality activities across projects and the supply chain to ensure compliance with standards and requirements.
• Review and assure Life Time Quality Records to confirm design intent and compliance.
• Support senior quality engineers in delivering assurance throughout the project lifecycle.

Required profile

• Experience applying quality assurance and quality control techniques within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of quality management systems and regulatory frameworks, including ISO 9001.
• Understanding of document control, change management and continuous improvement processes.
• Awareness of statutory and regulatory requirements relating to quality assurance.
• Experience working with supply chains and project‑based teams.

What we offer

• Competitive salary £33,900 – £42,400 per year, dependent on experience.
