Quality Engineer

About the role

Armstrong Fluid Technology is seeking a Quality Engineer to maintain high product quality across its Droitwich plant and supplier sites. The role combines hands‑on inspection, documentation control and continuous improvement in a fast‑moving fluid‑flow technology environment.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee incoming, in‑process and final inspections, ensuring compliance with quality standards and dimensional checks against drawings.
• Manage NDT coordination (VT, PT/MT, RT/UT), review reports and close out findings.
• Maintain traceability of devices, heat numbers and calibrated instruments; create ITPs, quality plans and weld maps.
• Lead the NCR management system using root‑cause tools (5 Whys, Ishikawa) and drive SPC and first‑pass yield improvements.
• Coach welders, fitters and assembly technicians on inspection criteria, pressure‑test safety and cleanliness standards.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience in mechanical/electromechanical fabrication or modular plant construction.
• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, isometrics, GA drawings and electrical schematics.
• Competence with precision measurement equipment, pressure‑testing rigs, torque tools and basic electrical test devices.
• Familiarity with welding quality documentation (WPS/PQR/WPQR) and material traceability.
• Working knowledge of ISO 9001 QMS and project documentation controls.

• Statistical Process Control (SPC) and CAPA
• Six Sigma Green Belt (preferred)
• PED/UKCA and ASME B31.x/EN piping codes
• Pressure testing, torque verification and continuity/IR testing
• CAD tools: Autodesk Inventor, Plant 3D, Navisworks
• Calibration equipment: pressure gauges, torque wrenches, multimeters, insulation testers
