Quality Inspector – AS9100 (Birmingham)

About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic, self‑motivated Quality Inspector to join a leading aerospace and automotive component manufacturer in Birmingham. Reporting to the Quality Manager, you will ensure that all products, materials and processes meet AS9100 standards and customer specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Perform first‑article inspections (FAI) in line with AS9102 requirements.
• Inspect incoming materials, in‑process components and finished parts against engineering drawings, GD&T and specifications.
• Verify compliance with the AS9100 quality management system.
• Use precision measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, CMMs and bore gauges.
• Document inspection results, maintain accurate quality records and report non‑conformances.
• Support root‑cause analysis, corrective actions and continuous‑improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma).
• Participate in internal audits and assist with external customer and certification audits.
• Collaborate with production, engineering and supply‑chain teams to resolve quality issues.

Required profile

• Technical certification in quality or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum 2 years experience in quality inspection, preferably within aerospace.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T and quality plans.
• Knowledge of AS9100 and AS9102 standards.
