Hardware Electronics Engineering Apprentice

About the role

This apprenticeship offers an entry‑level opportunity to develop hardware and electronics engineering skills while supporting the Product Development team at a well‑established electrical testing company. You will combine formal training with hands‑on experience across the full product lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Assist experienced engineers with prototype builds, component investigations and engineering documentation.
• Support testing and verification activities using laboratory equipment such as multimeters and oscilloscopes.
• Participate in fault finding, root‑cause analysis and troubleshooting of prototypes and products.
• Gain exposure to schematic and PCB development, design for manufacture and engineering change control.
• Help transition products from development into production and support related engineering investigations.

Required profile

• GCSEs (or equivalent) in Mathematics and English; science subjects desirable.
• Genuine interest in electronics, engineering or related technology and willingness to undertake an apprenticeship.
• Curious, practical, detail‑oriented and able to work effectively as part of a team.

Required skills

• Use of multimeters and oscilloscopes for hardware testing.
• Basic soldering techniques.
• Programming with Arduino or Raspberry Pi platforms.
• Schematic capture and PCB layout knowledge.
• Understanding of design for manufacture and engineering change control processes.
