Quality Manager – Aerospace (Essex)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Quality Manager to lead the Quality and Inspection function in a precision aerospace environment in Essex. You will act as the Management Representative for AS9100 and ISO 9001, owning site‑wide quality processes and interfacing with customers, auditors and regulators.

Key responsibilities

• Redesign and refine quality procedures to ensure practicality and consistency.
• Implement checks and controls throughout manufacture to catch issues early.
• Direct dimensional checks, in‑process inspection and final release activities.
• Maintain AS9102 documentation, ensuring FAIRs/LAIRs are accurate and submitted on time.
• Control measurement and test equipment, schedule calibrations and ensure traceability.
• Sign off products and key quality records, making balanced conformance decisions.
• Run the internal audit programme and support customer/third‑party visits.
• Lead investigations, perform root‑cause analysis and agree corrective actions.
• Track quality indicators, highlight emerging issues and drive improvement with Operations and Engineering.

Required profile

• Background in aerospace manufacturing quality, either as a current Quality Manager or senior Quality Engineer ready to step up.
• Strong knowledge of AS9100 and ISO 9001 frameworks with hands‑on shop‑floor experience.
• Internal auditor qualification and proven audit planning and execution.
• Familiarity with machined component inspection, gauging and common aerospace processes.
