About the role
Yolk Recruitment are partnered with a leading high‑precision manufacturing business in Plymouth. The role involves carrying out precise measurement, inspection and calibration activities while supporting quality standards, production requirements and customer acceptance processes.
Key responsibilities
- Carry out precise measurement and inspection of components, castings and forgings using manual measuring equipment, CMMs and 3D scanning systems.
- Produce detailed measurement reports ensuring full traceability of samples, inspection results and quality records.
- Complete material integrity testing, including ultrasonic inspection and hardness testing (Rockwell, Brinell, Vickers, Leeb).
- Maintain, calibrate and control gauges and measuring equipment, working with external calibration providers when required.
- Support wider quality‑assurance activities and provide cover for Customer Acceptance Line responsibilities during absences or high workload periods.
Required profile
- Previous experience in metrology, quality inspection, calibration or a similar precision‑engineering environment.
- Confidence using precision measurement equipment, gauges and a range of inspection tools.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications and relevant quality standards.
- Strong attention to detail with good organisational and documentation skills.
- Experience with CMM programming, Opticline systems or 3D scanning technology is advantageous.
- Knowledge of ultrasonic testing, hardness testing or metallurgical preparation techniques is beneficial.
- Experience in aerospace, automotive, defence or other high‑precision engineering sectors is desirable.
