Quantity Surveyor – Cost Management, Manchester

About the role

TSA Riley is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join its Manchester cost management team, contributing to the delivery of complex, high-value projects across multiple sectors. The role sits within a broad, challenging portfolio alongside a collaborative team and an established client base. Candidates come from a client-facing consultancy background, and progress toward RICS chartership is expected, with an in-house APC programme provided.

Key responsibilities

• Take ownership of cost planning, estimating, procurement and contract administration to ensure commercial quality.
• Lead valuations, variations, payment recommendations and monthly financial reporting.
• Monitor commercial performance, identify risks or opportunities and support corrective actions.
• Track contractual obligations, project changes and financial risks, escalating when required.
• Resolve contractual queries, mitigate commercial disputes and maintain cost data, contract records and reports in TSA Riley systems and templates.
• Maintain clear communication with clients and delivery partners, managing expectations and building trusted relationships.
• Manage commercial compliance and contribute to risk management in line with TSA Riley standards.
• Contribute to proposals, benchmarking, sector initiatives and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or a related discipline, ideally RICS-accredited.
• Several years of experience delivering quantity surveying or commercial services in a consulting or client-side environment.
• Progressing toward or already holding RICS professional accreditation.
• Experience on complex projects across multiple sectors of the built environment.
• Experience in agile environments and cross-functional teams; Employers Agent experience is advantageous.
