Quantity Surveyor (RE:GEN Midlands)

About the role

RE:GEN Midlands is looking for a Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial and contractual management of projects from pre-construction through to final account. The role controls costs, manages risk, administers contracts and supports project delivery, working closely with the Commercial Director, Commercial Manager, Project Managers, clients and supply chain partners.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the commercial performance of allocated projects against budget and profitability targets
• Prepare and maintain cost reports, forecasts, CVRs and cash flow information
• Administer contracts, including variations, compensation events, change control and final accounts
• Procure and commercially manage subcontractors and suppliers
• Prepare valuations, applications for payment and subcontractor payment assessments
• Monitor project costs, identify commercial risks and opportunities, and advise Project Managers and Site Teams
• Maintain commercial records and contractual documentation, and build relationships with clients, consultants and supply chain partners
• Support tendering and pre-construction, promote compliance with health, safety, quality and environmental standards, and contribute to continuous improvement

Required profile

• Degree, HNC, HND or equivalent in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline
• Full UK driving licence
• Essential: quantity surveying experience in construction or social housing, preparing valuations, variations and final accounts, and managing project costs and forecasts
• Desirable: working towards MRICS, MCIOB or equivalent; experience in maintenance, refurbishment, regeneration or new-build; experience across multiple projects and supporting tendering and procurement

Required skills

• Working knowledge of JCT, NEC or similar contracts
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
• Desirable: commercial management software and ERP systems, report writing and presentation skills
