Quantity Surveyor – Retail Cost Management

About the role

TSA Riley is strengthening its cost management team in the northwest region with a Quantity Surveyor based in its Bolton office. The role covers pre- and post-contract duties across the full project lifecycle, working with cost managers and project managers. Experience in retail quantity surveying is desirable, though candidates with good pre- and post-contract exposure across the whole construction lifecycle are also considered. The firm offers an in-house APC programme to help candidates achieve RICS status.

Key responsibilities

• Take ownership of cost planning, estimating, procurement and contract administration to ensure commercial quality
• Lead valuations, variations, payment recommendations and monthly financial reporting
• Monitor commercial performance, identify risks or opportunities and support corrective actions
• Track contractual obligations, project changes and financial risks, escalating when required
• Resolve contractual queries, mitigate commercial disputes and manage client expectations
• Maintain cost data, contract records and reports using TSA Riley systems and templates
• Contribute to proposals, benchmarking, sector initiatives and continuous improvement

Required profile

• Proven experience delivering quantity surveying or commercial services in a consulting or client-side environment
• Tertiary qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline, ideally RICS-accredited
• Progressing toward or already holding professional accreditation such as RICS
• Solid understanding of pre- and post-contract duties
• Experience in agile environments and cross-functional teams
