Registered Building Inspector – Class 1

About the role

We are seeking a Class 1 Registered Building Inspector to join our team in London on a hybrid basis. The role involves conducting building control inspections and ensuring compliance with the Building Safety Act 2022 and related regulations for domestic and low‑risk projects.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out site inspections on domestic and low‑risk building projects within Class 1 RBI scope.
• Assess Building Regulation applications, plans, specifications and supporting documentation for compliance.
• Maintain accurate inspection records and prepare reports, correspondence and enforcement documentation.
• Identify non‑compliant work and recommend corrective actions.
• Liaise with planning, environmental health, fire authorities and other statutory consultees.
• Deliver high‑standard customer service while ensuring regulatory compliance.

Required profile

• Registered as a Class 1 Registered Building Inspector with the Building Safety Regulator.
• Experience conducting building control inspections in a local authority or approved inspector environment.
• Good knowledge of the Building Regulations, Building Safety Act 2022 and related legislation.
• Desirable membership of professional bodies such as CABE, RICS or CIOB.
• Experience using Uniform, IDOX or other building control management systems.
