Registered General Nurse – A&E Departments

About the role
We are seeking a qualified Registered General Nurse (RGN) to join the Accident & Emergency (A&E) department of an NHS hospital in Preston, Lancashire. The role is fast‑paced, handling everything from minor injuries to major trauma, and requires quick clinical decision‑making and compassionate patient care.
Key responsibilities
- Assess and triage patients efficiently based on clinical need.
- Deliver emergency interventions, including cannulation, venepuncture and ECGs.
- Coordinate care with paramedics, consultants, social services and other multidisciplinary team members.
- Mentor junior staff and nursing students, ensuring high standards of practice.
- Provide emotional support to patients and families during crises.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and adhere to infection‑control policies.
Required profile
- Qualified Registered General Nurse (RGN) with a valid NMC registration.
- At least 6 months experience in an acute NHS setting (A&E or assessment suite highly desirable).
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo a new one).
- Right to work in the United Kingdom.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a high‑stress environment.
