Registered Manager – Children’s Home (Newton Abbot)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Registered Manager to lead a brand‑new children’s home in Newton Abbot. You will shape the service from day one, establishing a therapeutic environment where children can thrive while ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Take overall responsibility for day‑to‑day management of the home, ensuring compliance with Children’s Homes Regulations, Ofsted requirements and safeguarding legislation.
• Lead the Ofsted registration process and support the set‑up of operational standards, resources and opening preparations.
• Safeguard the welfare, safety and development of each child, embedding a positive, therapeutic culture.
• Manage the home’s budget, resources and health‑and‑safety practices.
• Recruit, train and develop staff, fostering a high‑performing team.
• Work closely with the Responsible Individual, Director and external consultants to ensure successful registration and ongoing quality assurance.

Required profile

• Proven experience in residential childcare management, preferably within a children’s home setting.
• Strong leadership and team‑building abilities with a passion for improving outcomes for children in care.
• Demonstrated knowledge of safeguarding legislation and Ofsted processes.
• Ability to develop and embed service culture, values and standards from inception.
