Registered Manager – Residential Children’s Home

About the role

We are looking for an experienced and passionate Registered Manager to lead a residential children’s home in Plymouth. You will create a safe, nurturing environment and drive positive outcomes for children who have experienced trauma.

Key responsibilities

• Register with Ofsted as the Registered Manager for the home.
• Lead, motivate and develop a team delivering trauma‑informed care.
• Build trusting relationships with children and young people.
• Oversee audits, Regulation 44 visits, Regulation 45 reports and Ofsted inspections.
• Maintain accurate records, incident reports, safeguarding documentation and care plans.
• Manage safeguarding concerns and liaise with LADO, MASH and Ofsted.
• Line‑manage, mentor and support staff through supervision and probation reviews.
• Manage staffing levels and participate in the on‑call rota.
• Submit regulatory notifications as required.
• Promote a culture prioritising children’s welfare, development and achievement.

Required profile

• Full UK driving licence.
• NVQ/QCF Level 3 or Level 5 in Residential Childcare (or equivalent), or working towards it.
• Minimum 12 months’ experience in a management position.
• At least 2 years’ recent experience in a residential children’s home.
• Strong understanding of safeguarding procedures and legislation.
• Excellent leadership, communication, organisational and problem‑solving abilities.
• Strong IT, literacy and numeracy skills.

• Salary £50,000 – £60,000 per annum, dependent on experience.
