Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) Band 5

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) at Band 5 level to join our multi‑disciplinary team in Carlisle. The role involves acting as a Primary or Named Nurse, delivering compassionate, person‑centred care and supporting the health and wellbeing of service users.

Key responsibilities

• Provide skilled nursing care with empathy, respect and dignity.
• Collaborate with multi‑disciplinary team, families and carers to promote shared decision‑making.
• Administer medication safely in line with Trust policies.
• Facilitate and chair multi‑disciplinary reviews and ward meetings.
• Maintain accurate, high‑standard clinical records and report patient progress.
• Contribute to the education and development of colleagues and students.
• Ensure the ward environment remains safe, clean and compliant with health and safety standards.

Required profile

• Professional nursing qualification (RMN/RNMH/RNLD).
• Commitment to continued professional development.
• Previous experience in in‑patient mental health settings.
• Comprehensive understanding of mental health legislation.
• Ability to manage clinical risks and act in accordance with legislative policies.
• Strong interpersonal skills for conflict management and emotional support.

What we offer

• Temporary contract with a rolling 4‑on/4‑off rota (08:00‑20:00).
• Pay rate between £21.00 and £35.00 per hour, dependent on shift pattern.
