Regulatory and Litigation Counsel, Competition Defense

About the role

Google is seeking a senior lawyer to lead its competition defence strategy across EMEA. You will work on high‑stakes regulatory and litigation matters, partnering with business units and external experts to protect the company’s innovative products.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute defence strategies for competition investigations and enforcement actions.
• Lead internal investigations, oversee evidence collection, and manage external submissions.
• Coordinate teams of in‑house counsel, external lawyers, and economists.
• Engage directly with regulators such as the European Commission and national competition authorities.
• Represent Google in meetings with regulators and other stakeholders.
• Partner with business units to assess and mitigate regulatory risk.

Required profile

• JD, LL.B. or equivalent degree; admitted to the bar in the UK or an EU member state.
• Minimum 7 years of attorney‑level experience in government, in‑house, or law‑firm settings.
• Proven experience litigating competition issues before civil courts.
• Demonstrated experience engaging with competition regulators.
• Strong project‑management abilities and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
