Regulatory & Compliance Counsel

About the role

This newly created position sits within JD Worldwide’s International Compliance Department and supports the business as it expands across the UK and EU. Reporting to the Director of Regulation and Compliance, you will own defined workstreams and ensure continuity across a fast‑moving, cross‑border remit.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Director across multiple regulatory and compliance disciplines.
• Act as the day‑to‑day point of contact for the business, guiding matters to resolution and partnering with commercial, operational and senior stakeholders.
• Provide regulatory advice on e‑commerce operations, including pricing, promotions and consumer‑rights issues.
• Manage regulatory responses, enforcement matters and regulator engagement in EU and UK markets.
• Maintain trackers and horizon‑scanning tools to keep the function ahead of obligations.
• Oversee IP and brand‑protection matters such as selective distribution, trademark and copyright issues.
• Advise on data‑protection and GDPR compliance, embedding practical controls into platforms and processes.
• Support implementation of emerging digital and AI regulations and EU/UK consumer‑law developments.
• Assist with ESG, sustainability, trade and customs compliance initiatives.

Required profile

• Qualified solicitor or lawyer (England & Wales or equivalent EU jurisdiction) with 3–6 years post‑qualification experience.
• Fluency in a second EU language (Spanish or Portuguese preferred; German, French or Dutch valued).
• Background combining contentious or regulatory work at a recognised law firm with in‑house experience at a scaled e‑commerce, marketplace, retail or consumer‑facing business.
• Experience in regulatory enforcement, product compliance, IP/brand protection and consumer law; exposure to data protection and emerging AI/digital regulation is a plus.
• Highly organised, action‑oriented and able to bring structure to a fast‑moving environment.
• Strong communicator comfortable partnering with business stakeholders and managing external counsel, regulators and senior internal parties.
