Regulatory Legal Counsel (12‑month Fixed‑Term)

About the role

We are seeking a Regulatory Legal Counsel to join Santander Consumer Finance UK on a 12‑month fixed‑term basis. Working closely with the Head of Legal, you will provide timely legal, regulatory and corporate‑governance advice across the business, ensuring compliance while supporting commercial objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the primary legal point of contact for business units, delivering advice on regulatory and corporate matters.
• Monitor, interpret and implement new legislation affecting the company.
• Draft, review and negotiate commercial contracts, partner arrangements and supplier agreements.
• Support the Head of Legal in managing legal projects and delivering regulatory landscape horizon scanning.
• Assist project initiatives by reviewing requirements and providing legal recommendations.
• Coordinate external legal counsel and manage identified legal risks.
• Promote legal services and risk awareness throughout the organisation.

Required profile

• Qualified solicitor or barrister with experience in regulatory and commercial law.
• Immediate availability with no notice period.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to work under tight deadlines.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with internal stakeholders and external partners.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of UK financial services regulation.
• Experience drafting and negotiating commercial agreements.
• Ability to conduct regulatory horizon scanning and risk assessment.
