About the role

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Relief Cook to join our friendly Catering Team at St Luke’s Hospice in Turnchapel, Plymouth. This part‑time, as‑and‑when‑required position offers flexibility while allowing you to make a genuine difference for patients, visitors and staff.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and serve high‑quality, nutritious meals for patients, respecting individual dietary needs.
• Create snacks and refreshments for visitors, families and staff.
• Maintain strict food hygiene and safety standards in line with 5‑star Environmental Health rating.
• Collaborate with the catering team to ensure smooth service and a pleasant dining experience.
• Assist with special occasions, helping to make them memorable for patients and their families.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a cooking or catering environment.
• Passion for preparing high‑quality food.
• Knowledge of food hygiene and safe working practices.
• Adaptable, caring attitude with strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Availability to work weekends when required.
