Religious Education Teacher – Secondary School

About the role

Reed Education is supporting a reputable secondary school in Leeds to recruit a passionate Religious Education (RE) teacher for the September 2026 start. The successful candidate will join a dynamic Humanities department and inspire students across Key Stages 3, 4 and potentially Key Stage 5.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging RE lessons that meet the National Curriculum and school syllabus.
• Facilitate exploration of diverse religious beliefs, ethical issues, philosophical concepts and cultural perspectives.
• Assess student progress, provide constructive feedback and prepare learners for GCSE Religious Studies examinations.
• Contribute to departmental initiatives, enrichment activities, assemblies and wider school events.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
• A degree in Religious Education, Theology, Philosophy or a related discipline.
• Experience teaching RE at secondary level in the UK.
• Strong classroom management, communication and safeguarding commitment.

Required skills

• Knowledge of the UK National Curriculum for Religious Education.
• Ability to design lesson plans and assessment strategies.
• Proficiency in preparing students for GCSE examinations.
