Remote Molecular Biologist – Part‑time, $1,150‑$1,450 per task

About the role

Mercor is seeking experienced molecular biologists to work remotely on a part‑time, task‑based contract. You will evaluate AI‑generated outputs related to experimental design, genomic data analysis, protein characterization, and other biotech research workflows.

Key responsibilities

• Review and assess AI‑generated experimental designs, genomic analyses, and protein characterization results.
• Create realistic laboratory scenarios for gene expression, CRISPR protocols, and proteomics data interpretation.
• Annotate, label, and validate data across biotech use cases, including sequencing pipeline accuracy and molecular target identification.
• Provide structured feedback on AI accuracy concerning molecular biology techniques, genomics, proteomics standards, and regulatory guidelines.
• Collaborate asynchronously with research teams to refine evaluation frameworks for biotechnology AI.

Required profile

• 3+ years of professional or post‑doctoral experience in biotechnology, genomics, proteomics, or molecular biology.
• Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in a relevant life‑sciences field is strongly preferred.
• Experience working in a biotech company, CRO, academic lab, or pharmaceutical R&D organization.
• Strong analytical thinking and ability to translate complex research workflows into structured evaluation tasks.
• Excellent written communication and meticulous attention to detail.
