Rental Returns Manager

About the role

Avis Budget Group is hiring a full-time, permanent Rental Returns Manager based at Heathrow Airport (T2, T3, T4). The role oversees the efficient and professional return of rental vehicles, ensuring high standards of customer service, operational efficiency and asset management. It covers scheduling, teamwork, outsourced supplier relationships, stock control and performance targets, and follows a rotational shift pattern Monday to Sunday.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the vehicle return process, including quality checks and efficient operations
• Develop and manage return schedules to optimise vehicle availability and minimise downtime
• Collaborate with rental and fleet teams on vehicle management
• Handle customer interactions professionally and improve service
• Lead vehicle inspections, damage assessments and coordinate repairs
• Lead and motivate the returns team, set targets and provide coaching and training
• Maintain supplier relationships, negotiate SLAs and monitor performance
• Track vehicle availability and condition, run stock audits for compliance and monitor KPIs to drive process improvements

Required profile

• Proven experience in a vehicle rental, automotive or logistics environment
• Managerial or supervisory experience
• Knowledge of vehicle maintenance, damage assessment and stock control
• Full UK driving licence
• Preferred: qualifications in business, logistics, automotive management or a related field
