Rental Service Technician

About the role

We are partnering with a leading provider of specialist rental equipment solutions to hire a Rental Service Technician for a full‑time permanent role based in Southampton. The successful candidate will install, maintain and repair a range of HVAC and power rental equipment, delivering high‑quality service to customers on‑site and in the field.

Key responsibilities

• Install, service and repair rental HVAC and power equipment such as chillers, air‑conditioning units, heaters and generators.
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical faults both in the workshop and at customer sites.
• Test equipment to ensure safe, efficient operation before deployment.
• Complete accurate service reports, maintenance records and other technical documentation.
• Provide technical support and guidance to customers, ensuring safe and effective equipment use.
• Carry out preventative maintenance to maximise reliability and minimise downtime.
• Adhere to health and safety procedures, industry regulations and service standards.
• Support and mentor junior technicians, sharing knowledge and promoting best practice.
• Collaborate with colleagues and customers to complete service calls and installations efficiently.
• Participate in overtime, weekend work and on‑call support as required.

Required profile

• Previous experience in an HVAC, power generation or similar engineering environment.
• Strong technical knowledge of mechanical and electrical equipment servicing and maintenance.
• Excellent fault‑finding and diagnostic abilities.
