Research Finance Officer – Remote, £34k Fixed‑term

About the role

We are seeking an organised and detail‑oriented Research Finance Officer to provide financial support for a portfolio of externally funded research projects. Working remotely, you will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure projects comply with funding requirements, financial regulations and organisational policies.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and report on project budgets and financial performance.
• Provide advice on funding rules, processes and financial compliance.
• Manage the full financial lifecycle of research projects, including set‑up, invoicing, journal postings, funding claims and project closure.
• Prepare income, expenditure and salary forecasts and support cost extensions.
• Maintain accurate records, prepare audit information and analyse variances.
• Build effective stakeholder relationships and deliver excellent customer service.
• Identify and implement improvements to financial processes.

Required profile

• Experience in finance administration within a busy environment.
• Proven ability to monitor and report financial information.
• AAT qualification or equivalent finance experience.
• Strong analytical, organisational and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities independently and as part of a team.
