Retrofit Solutions Engineering Systems Placement – 12.5‑month Internship

About the role

Join Airbus’s Retrofit Solutions Engineering team in Filton, Bristol for a 12.5‑month placement. You will work in a small, experienced group delivering service bulletins for landing‑gear, wing and fuel systems on commercial aircraft, collaborating with colleagues across the globe.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and develop installation drawing design solutions and conduct feasibility analyses.
• Support configuration management, continuous‑improvement initiatives and knowledge capture.
• Participate in quality, problem‑solving activities and explore future ways of working with new integrated tools.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Systems Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or a related field.
• Analytical mindset with strong problem‑solving abilities and genuine interest in aerospace topics.
• Willingness to learn technical, project‑management and communication skills and to work both autonomously and in a team.

Required skills

• Knowledge of Computer‑Aided Design tools such as CATIA.
• Familiarity with modelling software (e.g., ADAMS, Matlab Simulink, Fluent).
• Basic programming/scripting ability.
