Rewards and Benefits Manager

About the role

The Rewards and Benefits Manager will lead the design, management and governance of the organisation's compensation and benefits programmes. Based in Manchester, the role operates on a hybrid schedule, supporting the delivery of a competitive and equitable employee value proposition.

Key responsibilities

• Lead comprehensive reviews of existing pay scales and grade structures to ensure internal equity and consistency.
• Develop and implement a unified framework for terms and conditions of employment across the organisation.
• Design and drive Employee Value Proposition initiatives related to compensation and benefits.
• Conduct market analysis and benchmarking to keep pay and benefits competitive.
• Manage regular equal‑pay audits, analysing gender and other protected characteristics and remediate discrepancies.
• Ensure all compensation and benefit programmes comply with employment law and statutory reporting requirements.
• Collaborate with HRIS and Payroll teams to maintain accurate pay‑related data for audit and reporting.
• Oversee the structure and administration of employee benefits such as health and retirement schemes.
• Provide expert advice on changes to compensation and benefits policies and communicate them to employees and managers.

Required profile

• CIPD Level 5 qualification or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience in a similar rewards and benefits role.
• Experience within a public‑sector organisation is advantageous.
• Expert knowledge of job evaluation methodologies and pay structure design.
