About the role
Join Bosch's dynamic powertrain team as a Safety Monitoring Application Engineer. You will work on cutting‑edge vehicle programmes across conventional and electrified platforms, ensuring safety monitoring functions meet internal and customer requirements.
Key responsibilities
- Test, calibrate and validate safety monitoring functions in powertrain control units, sensors and actuators for ICE, HEV and BEV vehicles.
- Support cross‑functional teams in defining safety requirements at functional, subsystem and vehicle levels.
- Use vehicle, HiL and SiL environments to verify system performance against safety targets.
- Analyse test data and performance metrics to identify optimisation opportunities.
- Develop and implement new safety monitoring concepts and strategies.
- Provide technical problem‑solving support, including root‑cause analysis, within project teams.
- Collaborate with customers and internal stakeholders to deliver robust safety‑critical features.
- Perform a mix of desk‑based analysis, hands‑on in‑vehicle testing and occasional travel.
Required profile
- Degree in Automotive, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) from an accredited university.
- Full UK driving licence (Category B).
- Strong system‑level problem‑solving and analytical abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for working with customers and cross‑functional teams.
- Proactive, self‑motivated and able to manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
- Willingness to travel occasionally within the UK and internationally.
Required skills
- Safety monitoring calibration for automotive applications.
- Automotive electrical hardware and software systems.
- Calibration of complex control functions across ICE, hybrid and BEV powertrains.
- Knowledge of functional safety standards (e.g., ISO 26262).
- Experience with HiL (Hardware‑in‑the‑Loop) and SiL (Software‑in‑the‑Loop) environments.
- Data analysis and performance metric evaluation.
- Root‑cause analysis and technical problem‑solving.
