School Nurse (Band 5) – NHS School Health Team

About the role
We are looking for an enthusiastic School Nurse (Band 5) to join our School Health Team across Newham. Working in schools, alternative education settings, youth zones and community spaces, you will support children, young people and families with their health needs while contributing to the Healthy Child Programme.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver holistic health assessments and create care plans for children and young people.
- Develop and maintain multi‑agency partnerships at school and borough levels.
- Mentor pre‑registration nursing students and promote the visibility of school health services.
- Participate in safeguarding processes, multi‑agency case conferences and Early Help strategies.
- Support training programmes for schools on medical needs and public health initiatives.
- Maintain accurate electronic records using the RiO system and engage with digital platforms such as ChatHealth.
Required profile
- Registered Nurse (NMC) with significant post‑registration experience working with children, young people and families.
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding procedures and multi‑agency collaboration.
- Commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion principles.
- Ability to travel independently within the borough and adapt to service improvements.
Required skills
- Proficiency with the RiO electronic record system.
- Experience using digital communication tools such as ChatHealth.
