School Swimming Teacher – Gosforth Leisure Centres

About the role

GLL is seeking a dedicated School Swimming Teacher to deliver safe and engaging swimming lessons at Gosforth Leisure Centres in Newcastle Upon Tyne. You will help pupils of all ages develop confidence and competence in the water, contributing to a vital life skill.

Key responsibilities

• Provide welcoming, professional poolside service and maintain a positive image of the centre.
• Deliver consistent, safe swimming lessons in line with the Swim School product manual.
• Ensure pupil safety, enforce relevant regulations, and follow safeguarding and behaviour policies.
• Record and complete awards and progression levels as required.
• Support pupils individually or in groups, adapting teaching to their needs.

Required profile

• STA Level 2 or Swim England Level 2 qualification.
• Ideally hold the National Rescue Award for Swimming Teachers & Coaches.
• Good knowledge of health, safety, legislation and child protection policies.
• Approachable, patient and able to motivate and encourage learners.

• Swimming instruction techniques.
